Custom Borosilicate Glass Cut to Size

Borosilicate glass cut to your size — low thermal expansion for lab, kiln and high-heat viewing windows. Instant quote, no minimum order, ships in 1 week. Up to 12″ × 12″ in every thickness. We do not cut tempered glass.

Borosilicate glass is engineered for extreme temperature resistance. Its low coefficient of thermal expansion means it withstands rapid temperature changes without cracking — which is why it is the standard material in laboratory glassware, scientific instruments, high-heat viewing windows.

Why choose borosilicate glass?

  • Withstands temperatures from -80°C to +500°C
  • Resistant to thermal shock — handles rapid heating and cooling
  • Chemically inert — resists most acids, alkalis, and solvents
  • Optically clear with low distortion
  • Harder and more scratch-resistant than standard glass

Common applications

  • Laboratory windows and instrument panels
  • High-temperature kiln and furnace sight glasses
  • Stovetop and oven viewing panels
  • Scientific and optical equipment
  • Photovoltaic and solar panel cover glass
  • Semiconductor and electronics manufacturing

Borosilicate vs regular (soda-lime) glass

Standard soda-lime glass expands and contracts noticeably when heated, which is why it can crack under thermal stress. Borosilicate contains boron trioxide, which greatly reduces thermal expansion, so it is more stable under heat cycling and is also more chemically resistant. Choose regular clear glass for everyday panes and borosilicate when the glass will see heat changes.

Thicknesses and shapes

Enter your dimensions and choose a thickness in the quote tool. Borosilicate can be cut as rectangles, squares, circles, ovals, hexagons, rings or any outline from the custom shape / DXF builder. Pick your thickness in the quote tool.

Frequently asked questions

How is borosilicate different from regular glass?
Standard glass (soda-lime) expands and contracts significantly with temperature changes, which causes cracking under thermal stress. Borosilicate contains boron trioxide which dramatically reduces thermal expansion, making it stable under heat cycling. It is also more chemically resistant than soda-lime glass.

What temperature can borosilicate handle?
Borosilicate glass is rated for continuous use up to about 500°C and can handle brief spikes higher. It resists thermal shock from rapid temperature changes better than any standard glass type.

Do you cut tempered glass?
No. We do not cut tempered glass.

How long does shipping take?
Most custom glass orders ship in 1 week.

Is there a minimum order?
No. There is no minimum order.

What shapes can you cut in borosilicate?
Rectangles, squares, circles, ovals, hexagons, rings and custom outlines from a DXF file. Use the quote tool or the custom shape builder.

What is the largest size you can cut?
Up to 12″ × 12″ in every borosilicate thickness (3 mm to 10 mm).

We CNC cut (laser, waterjet, and more) to ±0.015″. Glass and polycarbonate go up to 18″ × 12″ (borosilicate up to 12″ × 12″); acrylic goes up to 32.5″ × 32.5″. Ships in 1 week.

How to measure

  1. Measure the finished cut size you need — not the rough stock.
  2. Rectangles: length × width. Circles: diameter across the widest point.
  3. Pick thickness in the quoter.
  4. Use inches.
  5. Fully custom shape? Use the glass builder or upload a DXF there.
